| APICS is a not for profit international educational organization founded in 1957 as the American Production and Inventory Control Society. Utilizing the expertise of individuals like Joseph Orlicky, Oliver Wight, George Plossl, Dave and Julie Garwood and Robert Hall, the organization quickly became the focal point for breakthrough concepts in resource management. MRP, MRPII, DRP, JIT, ERP, and SCM were all first introduced to the business world through the efforts of individuals like these and APICS. APICS is recognized around the world for its education and professional certification programs. With nearly 60,000 individual and corporate members in almost 20,000 companies worldwide, APICS is dedicated to using education to improving the business bottom line. APICS offers two internationally recognized certification programs, Certified in Production and Inventory Management (CPIM) and Certified in Integrated Resource Management (CIRM). Both are recognized as standards of professional excellence and quality within the manufacturing and service industries. The Lima Chapter of APICS is an educational, non-profit organization of volunteers with wide ranging professional experience in resource management. The purpose of the chapter is to provide education in topics of interest to managers throughout the supply chain. Through our scheduled meetings we try to provide a presentation on specific disciplines. These meetings might feature a guest speaker, a tour of a business in the area or presentations by members on areas of resource management. These meetings also provide a networking opportunity for members allowing them to meet and exchange ideas in a relaxed atmosphere. Periodically the chapter will also sponsor half-day a full day seminars which explore areas of the supply chain in greater detail. The chapter also provides in depth training both in house and on-line for any company that wishes to have employees reach a defined level of knowledge in a given area or desires to keep abreast of current trends. The chapter encompasses a large geographic area - South of Lima to the North of Findlay and as far East as Tiffin. Because of this geographic dispersion the chapter has a wide variety of business organizations from which to draw knowledge - automotive tires, petroleum, tier one suppliers to the auto industry, and the manufacturer of US Army tanks to mention a few. This diversity allows cross-fertilization of ideas among the various industries represented. The chapter also sponsors student organizations at Findlay College and Tiffin University. The students involved are majoring in Supply Chain disciplines and they actively participate in the chapter meetings. Because of this sponsorship the chapter also has access to faculty members at both schools. If this appears to be an organization in which you have some interest please contact us.
